ARCHIVED - Benidorm Town Hall gains jurisdiction over 320 square metres of seafront land
The Town Hall has been requesting this concession from Costas since 2016
The Town Hall in Benidorm has finally obtained the concession of 320 square metres of land from the Coastal authorities (Costas), located between the seafront of Paseo de Colón and Avenida del Virgen del Sufragio of the seafront.
Benidorm’s Town Hall initially requested this concession of public domain in June 2016 in order to use the land for roads and public spaces, as these lands were declared unnecessary for the protection or use of maritime-terrestrial public domain (all .
The request was reiterated in March and November 2019 and finally, on March 30 2021, the national Treasury sent an official letter confirming the transfer.
With this concession, all management decisions regarding this area of seafront and the buildings on it will fall exclusively to the Town Hall in Benidorm, whereas before the land was under the jurisdiction of the Coastal authorities.
In addition, a fourth modification of the provisional “Plan Parcial 3/1” regarding the industrial estate, which is to be the location of the first shopping centre in Benidorm has been made. The minister of the Urbanization department in Benidorm, Lourdes Caselles, has stated that she hopes that this modification is the last, as the plan to build a shopping centre in this area has been underway for some time and is expected to be completed at the end of 2022.
