ARCHIVED - 10 hefty fines for fly tipping issued in a week in Alfaz del Pi, Alicante
Alfaz del Pi Town Hall in the Marina Baixa area of Alicante province is warning of fines of between 600 and 1,500 euros

In less than a week, Local Police in Alfaz del Pi have imposed 10 fines for illegal dumping, and the Town Hall has warned fly tippers that the local authorities are stepping up surveillance.
Ten individuals and companies face fines of up to 1,500 euros for uncontrolled dumping of construction debris, pruning waste and other items on public roads since Friday September 30.
Councillor for Public Safety and Town Hall spokesman, Toni Such, cautioned: "We will not lower our guard and the monitoring and surveillance plan for those who deposit waste, rubbish and dumping outside the established points is underway."
He also thanked the local residents for sending in photos and videos of offenders that have been "fundamental" in identifying people and local firms who "dump their rubbish without complying with the established regulations, in other words, where they feel like it and at ungodly hours, such as 4am".
"We shall be implacable with certain antisocial habits whose repercussions affect us all," he warned, adding that infringements carry fines of between €600 and €1,500.
Such reminded the public there is a Punto Limpio site for recycling household items in Alfaz’s Calle Reino as well as Calle Tauro in Albir.
SAV, the town's rubbish collection concessionary, can also be reached on freephone 900 102 952 to answer queries and arrange appointments for the recycling of large and bulky items.
