ARCHIVED - 100 euros per child and help for single parents: new advanced social policies in Spain
Spain’s socialist government is ploughing more money than ever into easing the cost of living for families and children
In its new 2023 budget, which was announced this week, Spain has set aside more money than ever in its history for the development of progressive social policies that aim to help people deal with the cost-of-living crisis.
As part of these measures, next year there will be a monthly payment of 100 euros to parents of children under 3 years of age, as long as they are registered with the Social Security system or are receiving unemployment benefit.
What’s more, single parents who have two children will be afforded the same rights to benefits and discounts that are currently afforded to families consisting of three or more children, known in Spanish as ‘familias numerosas’.
As well as these measures to help ease the economic strain on families with young children, Spain will extend its programme of offering free and discounted travel passes into 2023, along with a host of other measures.
