2 year old run over in Totana, second accident in a month
The Emergency services reported that the incident was a hit-and-run
This morning at 10.26am, the Emergency Centre reported a hit-and-run on the Mazarrón-Totana road, in which a 2 year-old child was injured. The police from the town of Totana were dispatched to the scene along with the ambulance services and the urgent care unit.
After stablising the condition of the child on site, the ambulance then took him to the Rafael Méndez Hospital in Lorca, where he was admitted with multiple injuries.
Isa Molino, spokesperson for the PSOE in Totana and a resident of the area, said "In less than a month there have already been two accidents on this street alone (Avenida de Mazarrón). The last one took place today and, now that I live in that area, what seems strange to me is that they don't happen more, given how fast the cars are going. Most of them don't even stop when they see you waiting at the pedestrian crossing."
Therefore, because of the speed at which people drive on the road, there will be a request at the next plenary session to ask for appropriate measures to be taken in order to improve the safety of those who live in the area.
