ARCHIVED - 9 June 2021: active Covid case and hospital patient numbers continue to drop in Murcia
57 new cases and no fatalities reported in the Wednesday regional government update
The decrease in coronavirus incidence rates which began in Murcia at the end of May continued with the publication on Wednesday of the latest daily bulletin by the regional government, reporting 57 more confirmed cases, no fatalities and a continuing decrease in the numbers of active cases and hospital patients.
The 57 new confirmed cases include 28 in the municipality of Murcia, 9 in Lorca, 4 in Cartagena, 3 each in Calasparra and Yecla and 2 in La Unión. If the daily figures continue at this level Murcia will soon join the list of 4 Spanish territories where the 14-day accumulated incidence rate has dropped below 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, indicating a “low” risk of infection.
The number of Covid patients receiving hospital treatment fell by three to 41, with 14 of them in intensive care units, and no further fatalities were added to the accumulated death toll of 1,604 since March 2020.The strain placed on the SMS regional health service has not been so light since last summer.
The number of active cases in Murcia has dropped back to 652, a level last seen on 16th May, after rising in the meantime to 856 on 27th May.
