An elderly man has tragically died in a house fire at a three-storey property in Sax, Alicante.

Fire crews managed to rescue the 62-year-old woman through a patio door on the first floor using a sliding ladder. She was taken to the General University Hospital of Elda where she was treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation.
Sadly, firefighters were unable to save the elderly man who died at the scene.
The property in Calle Gran Vía de Sax was gutted in the blaze which was finally extinguished at 10.45pm, preventing flames from spreading to neighbouring homes.
The road was cut off due to the "intensity" and "virulence" of the fire.
While an investigation into the cause is underway, it's believed the blaze may have originated from an indoor stand-free fire known as a 'brasero de la casa' in Spanish.
Earlier this week, a dog died in a blaze that ripped through a five-storey block of flats in the Foietes-Colonia Madrid neighbourhood of Benidorm.
Residents in 14 flats were ordered to stay indoors and two people were evacuated as firefighters tackled the flames. Aside from the pet dog that lost its life, there were no other reports of injuries.
