Águilas beaches are opened for swimming
Water quality of Águilas beaches are now excellent for swimming
Last Friday, the beaches of La Colonia and Poniente in Águilas were closed for swimming as a precaution. According to the Councillor for the Integrated Water Cycle, José Luis Moreno, “In the period of time that it took to repair a simultaneous break in the pipes of the two large pumping groups, the smallest pumping group was not able to absorb the entire flow and this caused small overflows.”
Since then, tests have been carried out and the results are fantastic news for swimmers in Águilas. According to the preliminary results of the analyses commissioned, the contamination values indicate that the water quality is excellent, based on the values of Annex I of RD 1341/2007. For this reason, the councillor has ordered that both beaches be opened and that swimming be allowed in both La Colonia and Poniente.
