A third of all flights from Corvera Airport are late
Murcia International Airport has one of the worst records in Spain for delays
Despite its low traffic volume and disappointing passenger numbers throughout 2024, Corvera Airport has emerged as one of the worst in Spain for delayed and cancelled flights. In fact, a recent report has revealed that 30% of all flights departing from the Region of Murcia’s international aerodrome are either late or cancelled altogether.
These unfortunate figures were released by technology company AirHelp, which has analysed take-off data from the last year and produced an annual report on punctuality in Europe and Spain.
Ironically enough, Palma de Mallorca, which is the third busiest in Spain, has the worst reputation for punctuality, with 35% of all flights suffering delays. Ibiza came in second, with 31% of passengers inconvenienced, just ahead of Corvera, which limps into third place.
The best punctuality award has once again gone to Bilbao airport in the Basque Country: last year, of the more than 3 million passengers who flew from Bilbao, only 17% had any problems.

Other small airports, such as Melilla, Asturias and Granada-Jaén, also stand out for their good work.
Spain’s most important airports, Madrid and Barcelona, landed somewhere in the middle of the field, with delay rates of 23% and 26%, respectively.
Spain led Europe in air traffic during 2024, recording an impressive one million flights and approximately 145 million passenger movements. However, runway punctuality has declined by 2%, leaving nearly 2.25 million passengers eligible to claim compensation for delays and cancellations.
Among the airlines, Iberia Express emerged as the most punctual carrier, with 90% of its flights arriving on time. Following closely, TUI Fly achieved nearly 86% punctuality, while another Spanish airline, Vueling, also posted a strong performance with 85% of its flights running on schedule.
