ARCHIVED - Adapted beaches reopen in Calpe
There are two beaches with facilities for people with reduced mobility in Calpe in the Marina Alta comarca of Alicante province.
Calpe has reopened its adapted beaches with facilities for people with reduced mobility to ensure everyone enjoys its coastline on the Costa Blanca this summer.
The two main beaches in the municipality, La Fossa and Arenal-Bol, have areas with bathrooms adapted for beach goers with mobility issues, the elderly, and people with reduced vision.
And to assist people onto the sands, there are accessible beach spots located in Calle Llevant for La Fossa coastline and in Calle Hollanda for Arenal-Bol.
Here there are areas equipped with modern amphibious chairs suitable for the beach and crutches, along with sections of flexible walkway and adapted bathroom and changing rooms.
Lifeguards are also on hand to accompany the users of the service, if required, from Monday to Sunday, 11am to 7pm throughout June, and there are reserved parking spaces nearby.
The service will be extended in July and August, and anybody interested in using the facilities is asked to make an appointment in advance by calling 687 255 974.
