Águilas Esparto grass weaving honoured in special demonstration
The Councillor for Culture has highlighted the important work of the Association of Friends of Esparto to keep alive this timeless cultural art
The Councillor of Culture in Águilas, José Antonio Consentino, along with the regional deputy Juan Andrés Torres and other members of the municipal corporation recently attended a workshop and exhibition of Esparto grass weaving in the Plaza de España, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the declaration of Esparto as being of value as Intangible Heritage, organised by the Association of Friends of Esparto.
After the visit, Consentino underlined the value of these type of activities to keep this tradition alive and to ensure that its legacy lives on in our history and culture. In this sense, the councillor thanked the Association of Friends of Esparto for their selfless work for the transmission and dissemination of this important cultural asset.
