Alfaz del Pi commemorates more than a decade of Nordic Erasmus students
Norwegian students have been studying in the quiet Marina Baixa town each year since 2012
For more than a decade, the Ørsta Norway Vocational Training Institute, near Ålesund, has been offering its students the chance to participate in professional internships in businesses in Alfaz del Pi.
Each year, 25 young men and women travel to the Alicante town to gain valuable work experience and further their studies in a wide variety of professions including healthcare, electrical fields and plumbing.
The trip, organised through the Erasmus Program, typically lasts three weeks and is valued at 50,000 euros.
To honour this impressive ten-year milestone, on Tuesday September 19 a representative of the teaching staff of the Norwegian Training Centre visited the Alfaz Town Hall and met with mayor Vicente Arques to discuss how the scheme might develop and evolve in the future.
Mayor Arques congratulated the entire team of professionals at the Ørsta Vocational Training Institute for their dedication to the initiative, and thanked the extensive network of businesses and establishments involved in the training exchange program.
Accompanying the teaching staff was a member of Helsereiser Costa Blanca, a business group that not only collaborates with this Nordic training project, but has also been arranging holidays and health trips for Scandinavians for more than 30 years, a feat which brings around 2,000 visitors to Alfaz each and every year.
