Alicante holiday calendar 2026: Key public holidays and local celebrations confirmed
In all, Alicante will enjoy 14 bank holidays next year, although the province will only have two long weekends

The public holiday calendar for 2026 across the province of Alicante is now taking shape, with a mix of national, regional and local dates already confirmed.
As in the rest of Spain, there will be nine national holidays that apply throughout the country, along with several regional dates set by the Valencian government and local councils. In total, workers in the province will enjoy up to 14 public holidays next year, depending on where they live.
For the Valencian Community, the official holidays include New Year’s Day on January 1, Epiphany or El Día de los Reyes Magos on January 6, San José on March 19, Good Friday on April 3, Easter Monday on April 6, May Day/Labour Day on May 1, the Day of the Valencian Community on October 9, Spain Day on October 12, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8 and Christmas Day on December 25.
Other holidays that usually fall on weekends, such as All Saints’ Day on November 1 and Constitution Day on December 6, will not result in extra days off in 2026 as both fall on a Sunday.
The year will only include two long weekends, with holidays landing on Friday May 1 and Monday October 12.
In addition to the national and regional holidays, Alicante City Council has confirmed its two local holidays for 2026. These are Thursday April 16, the day of Santa Faz, and Tuesday June 23, which marks the start of the Hogueras celebrations. Both dates are deeply rooted in the city’s traditions, with the Hogueras de San Juan recognised as a Festival of International Tourist Interest since 1983 and, more recently, declared an Asset of Intangible Cultural Interest by the Generalitat in 2024.
This all means that Alicante will have a total of 14 public holidays in 2026.
While June 24, the regional holiday for Día de San Juan, remains in place, the midweek timing of both June 23 and 24 means there will be no extended weekend for the Hogueras celebrations in 2026. Apart from the Easter and Christmas periods, the only opportunities for long weekends will fall around May 1 and October 9–12.
