Andalusia weekly weather forecast January 27-February 2: Driving rain, storms and snow
Prepare for another week of rainstorms, thunder, lightning, falling temperatures and even snow in Andalucía
Andalucía weather forecast, Monday January 27
Storm Herminia has put almost all of Spain on alert for extreme wind and rain at the beginning of this week, and Andalucía is no exception. For this week, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is forecasting
On Monday January 27, almost all of the region will receive rain, with just about everywhere east of Málaga and Córdoba on yellow or orange for strong winds and driving rain from 9am until 9pm. Huelva and the west will have some rain in the morning then dry out as the day goes on, while Almería will get away with merely being very windy, but the central part of the region will have heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Overnight, there will be a drastic drop in temperatures, falling by eight or nine degrees in places, down to below-zero in the mountains of Granada.
Andalucía weather warnings, Monday January 27
Tuesday 28 brings more rain pretty much all day long for the entire autonomous community, and more high winds, especially for coastal areas, but there should also be just enough sunshine to allow a rainbow to peek through, if we’re lucky. Even so, it will continue to be very cold at night, and dropping even further.
Andalucía weather forecast, Tuesday January 28
Tuesday night will provide some respite before the widespread rain comes flying across Andalucía from the northwest once again on Wednesday 29, sweeping down quickly from Huelva to Almería as the day goes on, though many of the weather warnings will have been deactivated by then, remaining only on the coast of Almería and Granada, which could still be quite blustery.
Andalucía weather forecast, Wednesday January 29
Eventually, by the morning of Thursday January 30, Huelva, Seville, Córdoba, Cádiz, Málaga and those few parts of Almería that were affected by the rain will all have dried out, leaving rain, lightning and thunder in just Granada and Jaén. A drop in temperatures will mean that the precipitation falls as snow in the high mountainous areas of Granada, including the ski resort of the Sierra Nevada.
Andalucía weather forecast, Thursday January 30
For Friday 31 and the start of February at the weekend, the current forecast is for bright and sunny conditions once again, but it will remain cold, with temperatures at night-time falling as low as -4ºC in inland Granada and Jaén, 0-1ºC in the rest of inland Andalucía and to 4-8ºC on the coast.
During the day, it will reach up to around 11-16ºC in many inland areas, 16-19ºC on the coast, and only around maximums of 7ºC in the Sierra Nevada.
