ARCHIVED - Another mixed week ahead: Spain weather forecast Oct 24-27
Northern Spain remains under a deluge of rain while spring-like temperatures bathe the south
Hot on the heels of Armand, which battered half of the country last week, storm Béatrice swooped across the Peninsula on Sunday October 23, bringing gusts of more than 100 km/h in the north, maritime storms and abundant rain. No fewer than 25 provinces were put on alert for torrential weather and although it’s set to stabilise as we enter the last week of October, there remains a dramatic difference between the north and south of Spain.
Monday October 24 will continue to be wet and windy along the Atlantic coast, with the heaviest rain forecast in Galicia and the extreme west of Castilla y León. It will be a largely cloudy day in the rest of Spain, clearing through the afternoon, with a similar outlook in the Canary and Balearic Islands.
Temperatures will continue to be more reminiscent of summer in the south, reaching the low 30s in Murcia, while the nights are set to become a little cooler overall.
The weather alerts will kick in again on Tuesday October 25, when Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León, the Basque Country and La Rioja will all be on yellow alert for strong winds.
Another slightly overcast day is on the cards for the rest of the country, with a little haze forecast in the early morning.
A light, southerly wind will predominate and the thermometers will remain largely unchanged, although nighttime temperatures will creep up a bit again in the southwest.
Locally heavy and persistent rain is once again forecast for the north, although no weather warnings are in place for Wednesday October 26. It will be a mostly cloudy day in the rest of Spain and weak and scattered afternoon showers haven’t been ruled out in the eastern part of the country.
Some haze is expected in the east of the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands and a good part of the mainland southwest throughout the day. Daytime temperatures are predicted to rise in Andalucia with very little change elsewhere.
Due to an incoming Atlantic low, Thursday October 27 will bring cloudy skies and plenty of rain to much of the interior northwest. The rest of the country will begin the day with cloudy skies, clearing slightly by mid-morning with sunny intervals during the day.
Aemet has warned of the possibility of calimas in central and western Spain, more likely in the southwest.
Daytime temperatures on the rise once more in northern and central Spain and the Canary Islands, with a drop expected in the southwest and along the Mediterranean coast.
