ARCHIVED - Aldi opens 400th Spanish store in Valencia
The supermarket chain plans to open a further 50 stores in Spain in 2023
German supermarket giant Aldi has reached the milestone of 400 stores in Spain with the opening of a new outlet in Valencia city.
Aldi Spain, part of the Aldi Nord group, now has 65 discount.stores in the Valencia Region with the inauguration of the shop in Valencia's Avenida Ausias March last week.
Since 2019, the company has opened the doors to 100 new supermarkets in Spain, and last year, increased its retail space throughout the country by 11%. And there are plans to continue this growth with 50 new shops by the end of the year.
In addition, three stores will open in April in Villareal, Alzira and Pontevedra following a recent addition in Santa Margalida, Mallorca.
A new store is earmarked for Melilla later in the year, as well as new outlets in Galicia, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands and Asturias.
And the chain intends to continue strengthening its network of stores in the Madrid region, Catalonia and Andalusia.
