ARCHIVED - San Fermin fiestas in Pamplona fall victim to coronavirus for second consecutive year
The mayor of the city in the Spanish region of Navarra officially announced the cancellation on Monday.
Coronavirus has once again thrown a spanner in the works of the highly popular San Fermin festivities and running of the bulls this year, meaning those seeking an adrenaline rush will have to look for their thrills elsewhere.
The mayor of Pamplona announced on Monday morning (26 April) after discussing the matter with the relevant experts and committees that the current health situation means there is no way the fiestas, which traditionally gather huge, jostling crowds, can go ahead.
There had been a lot of talk in recent months of the difficulty of safely holding events of this type, and the mayor had previously said that it would be absolutely impossible to hold San Fermin festivities in their traditional form this year, so although disappointing to many, the news doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
