ARCHIVED - Spain extends restriction of non-essential travel from Schengen countries and third parties to the EU until April 30th
The previous extension was authorized on February 26
The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has announced that the temporary restriction of non-essential travel from third countries to the European Union and Schengen associated countries for reasons of public order and public health due to the health crisis caused by the coronavirus, has been extended for a further month to April 30.
The order has been published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), which extends the restrictions that ended on March 31 by a further month.
The previous extension was authorized on February 26, for one more month.
However, the order that establishes temporary restriction of access by land to the Schengen area through the Gibraltar checkpoint concludes on March 30.
This decision comes a few days after the Government of Spain decided not to extend the limitation of direct flights and passenger ships between the United Kingdom and Spanish airports and ports.
For the moment, the UK is restricting travel for all but essential reasons, and only those who can prove they have residency in Spain are being permitted to enter.
