ARCHIVED - Spanish King gets Covid
King Felipe VI of Spain has tested positive and will isolate for a week
Just as Spain appears to be beating the sixth wave, King Felipe VI has tested positive for Covid on Wednesday February 9 after presenting with mild symptoms since Tuesday afternoon.
A royal spokesperson has confirmed that the monarch’s health “is good” but that his official activities, which would have included an international meeting with the President of Bosnia and Herzegovina and presenting the XVIII King of Spain Economy Prize, have been suspended for the next seven days as he self-isolates.
However, King Felipe “will maintain his institutional activity from his residence” as he recovers.

Both Queen Letizia and the Infanta Sofia are not showing any symptoms and so “will be able to continue with their planned activities normally, according to the established regulations.”
The King received his first coronavirus vaccine at the WiZink Centre in Madrid on May 29, but it has not been confirmed whether he was subsequently administered a second jab or booster dose.
