ARCHIVED - Taxpayers in Murcia Region will be able to pay local taxes via Bizum from 2023
The maximum Murcia Region taxpayers will be able to pay using this method will be 1,000 euros each transaction

As of next year, the Region of Murcia Tax Agency will allow taxpayers to pay local income taxes through Bizum, an instant payment provider used by most banks, with a maximum payment of 1,000 euros in most cases.
This was one of the main announcements made on Monday November 28 by the Minister of Economy, Finance and Digital Administration, Luis Alberto Marín, during his budget 2023 announcement in the Assembly.
The Agency expects that by 2023 there will be 8,000 taxpayers with personalised payment plans that allow them to meet their local and regional tax obligations in 12 monthly instalments and without interest.
The Regional Ministry of Economy, Finance and Digital Administration will have a budget of 340.4 million euros next year. However, rather than focusing on investments in the pipeline, the Minister's speech centred on the tax cuts that will be applied, which he promised will allow a saving of 390 million euros for families and SMEs in the Region.
Among the fiscal moderation measures, Marín highlighted the deflation and the progressive lowering of the autonomous section of personal income tax, the 15 deductions in force for the next income tax return (these include two new deductions in personal income tax for working mothers), a 99% rebate on Inheritance and Gift Tax, a rebate for donations to aunts, uncles and siblings, and the abolition of Wealth Tax for incomes of less than three million euros.

The Minister of Finance explained other tax reductions included in the accounts that will have an effect on the 2023 income tax, which will be settled in 2024, such as the new IRPF deduction for the improvement of housing for large families, with 1,500 beneficiaries; and a 20% increase in the IRPF deduction for people with disabilities, a measure which will benefit 13,900 taxpayers.
"The money, where it is best, is in the pockets of families, the self-employed and SMEs so that they can use it freely to generate economic development, as well as to cope with inflation and rising interest rates," said the Treasury Minister.
The Murcia Region Tax Agency also plans to improve "personalised attention", both electronically and in person, and during the 2023 financial year, the Fortuna, Los Alcázares, Puerto Lumbreras, Calasparra, Lorca and Yecla offices will be renovated.
The main objective of the Regional Ministry is to build a more "modern, agile and efficient public administration" and to continue promoting "the digital transformation of the Region, with cross-cutting actions that have a clear municipal character".
During 2023, a major step forward will be taken with the launch of the Digital Transformation Agency of the Region of Murcia, which will be responsible for all of the Region's IT systems.
At the same time, the Cybersecurity Master Plan of the Region of Murcia will be implemented, with the aim of improving cybersecurity within the regional administration and offering these services to local entities, as well as raising awareness and offering security tools for citizens and companies.
