ARCHIVED - Two men arrested for raping a young tourist in Magaluf
The Swedish woman was walking alone when approached by the men in the Spanish island resort
Two Brazilian citizens who reportedly live in the party hotspot of Magaluf in Mallorca have been arrested by the Guardia Civil for the alleged rape of a young Swedish tourist.
According to official sources, the young woman was making her way back to her hotel alone at around 3am on Saturday morning, May 30 when she was approached by the two men. The Brazilians, aged 29 and 37, offered the holidaymaker a lift home and convinced her to get in their car.
Instead of driving to the tourist’s hotel, the men pulled over in a nearby street and raped her in the vehicle.
The Swedish woman, in her 20s, immediately went to a local medical centre where she was examined and the Guardia Civil launched an investigation; based on her descriptions, the two suspects were quickly apprehended, one on that same day and the other on Monday.
They were both taken to the court in Palma on Tuesday May 31 to give their statements.
