ARCHIVED - Vueling reinstates domestic route between Alicante and Santander
Two weekly flights will connect Alicante-Elche on the Costa Blanca and Spain's north coast
International flights from Alicante are being steadily restored or expanded following the lifting of most travel restrictions, although Spain has now extended temporary measures for non-essential travel from third countries, and Spanish airline Vueling has become the latest in a fleet of companies to announce new summer flights.
From June 19 until September 11, the airline will operate two weekly flights from Alicante-Elche to the capital of the Cantabria region on Spain's north coast, Santander, a route which was pulled in 2017.
The flights will connect the two cities on Thursdays and Sundays and tickets will go on sale from Thursday April 7.
Over the four-month summer period, the airline will operate a total of 33 direct flights to and from Alicante and Seve Ballesteros-Santander.
Last week, Finnair announced new three-weekly flights from Alicante to the Finnish capital, Helsinki, just days after Norwegian revealed Alicante-Elche Airport will become one of its two bases in Spain as part of the company's "strategic" plans to recover growth in Spain.
