ARCHIVED - Arrests as police shut down drug outlets across Alicante province
Three drug houses raided and eight people arrested in Javea, Almoradi and Villena on the Costa Blanca.
The Guardia Civil in Alicante province have shut down three drug dealing operations in Javea, Almoradi and Villena, following tip offs from the public, seizing thousands of euros in cash and arresting eight men and women on Thursday.
Acting on information from local residents, police set up a brief surveillance operation of a property in Javea, in the Marina Alta, before raiding the house and seizing 74 pre-prepared packages of cocaine, €12,270 in cash, €3,878 in cryptocurrencies from a digital wallet, false documentation, tools used for cutting cocaine and seven high-end watches.
A 56-year-old Polish woman and 67-year-old Italian man, who has a record for similar offences, have appeared already appeared in court in Denia, with the latter remanded into custody.
Meanwhile, in Almoradi, in the Vega Baja, two men and a woman have been detained for allegedly selling heroin from their home, causing "alarm amongst neighbours and shopkeepers", who reported their suspicions.
And in the Alto Vinolopo town Villena, the Guardia Civil shut down another drug selling point, run by a Spanish woman, 41, who has been arrested for drug trafficking and money laundering.
According to the police, her partner was arrested for supplying narcotics in June 2020, "and she apparently decided to continue with the business".
