ARCHIVED - Bar and restaurant owners in Murcia criticise Covid restrictions
The hospitality sector claims that Murcia is the most restrictive region in Spain
Despite the regional government announcing more relaxed Covid restrictions from Wednesday October 13, including reinstating the use of bars and dance floors, the hospitality sector in Murcia claims that these measures are still too restrictive.
President of Hostemur, Jesus Jimenez, insists that Murcia is the most restrictive region in Spain and that regional president, López Miras, has waited until the last possible moment to reopen bar service and dance floors.
Members of the sector have also criticised the fact that, although customers are allowed to dance, they aren’t allowed to consume while doing so, and consumption at the bar is only allowed if customers are sitting down. Mr Jimenez has condemned the new rules, stating that it makes no sense to open dance floors without allowing consumption.
Meanwhile, at concerts, attendees can stand up, but they must still wear a mask at all times and are only allowed to eat and drink in designated seating areas.
