ARCHIVED - Benidorm unveils another seafront open-air sculpture exhibition, this one by Belgian artist
The 'My Secret Garden' collection has pride of place on the Marina Baixa coastal town's Paseo de Poniente

Benidorm's Paseo de Poniente has been transformed into a colourful open-air gallery with the unveiling of a stunning collection of sculptures created by Belgian artist Arne Quinze.
The six pieces, under the collective umbrella 'My Secret Garden', will remain in situ until May 2023 to bring "even more" art and culture to the promenade.
Several metres high and wide, the sculptures are made of aluminum giving them the illusion of being "light and fragile to the spectators' eyes" and represent different aspects of evolution.
The pieces will be explained in detail by the artist herself on September 15 during a guided tour of the exhibition, which is open to everyone and will take place from 7.30pm.

"The pieces have been installed on the stretch of the Paseo de Poniente closest to La Cala, from the intersection of avenidas Armada Española and Vicente Llorca Alós along to Avenida Puerto Rico, where the large colourful sculpture of two amorous swans by the Taiwanese artist Hung Yi is located.
"Sculptures by three internationally renowned artists, Hung Yi, Juan Mejica and Arne Quinze, now coexist in our Paseo de Poniente, which has been consolidated as an open-air museum," said the Councillor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer.
"Few cities in the world can boast of having such a concentration of first class sculptural art in less than a kilometre as Benidorm now presents; confirmation of the great interest that our town awakens among artists and cultural promoters, who each day trust more in the potential of our urban fabric as an exhibition space," she added.
The head of Historical Heritage attributed the "unique and avant-garde architecture and design" of the Paseo de Poniente and Avenida Mediterráneo for its suitability to displaying works of art and photographs.
'My Secret Garden' is the second sculpture exhibition brought to Benidorm in collaboration with the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències (Centre for Arts and Science). The 'Towers of the Alhambra' collection by the artist Cristóbal Gabarrón is on display in the Plaza de la Hispanidad, Calle Gambo and Avenida del Mediterráneo until the end of January 2023.
