ARCHIVED - 21st Flamenco recital, Cartagena archaeological museum
To inaugurate the exhibition Sentir flamenco, by Virginia Rosique
This photographic exhibition by Virginia Rosique pays homage to women in the world of flamenco
The Museo Arqueológico Municipal Enrique Escudero de Castro in Cartagena is hosting an exhibition dedicated to the role of women in flamenco until the 16th June.
The photographs have been mainly taken in the region of Murcia and focus on the emotions inspired by the various forms of expression offered in flamenco: the melancholy of a tiento, the depth and profound emotion of a solitary voice in a martinete, the joy of a bulería, all captured through song, dance and guitar.
The exhibition also aims to play tribute to some of the greats of the flamenco world: Concha La Peñaranda, Mercedes La Serreta, La Trini, La Niña de los Peines and Carmen Amaya, amongst others.
The official inauguration of the exhibition is at 8pm on Friday 21st, then at 10.30pm the museum hosts a free entry recital of flamenco vocal, with Antonia Contreras al cante, accompanied by Chaparro de Málaga on guitar.
