Body of German man found on stranded sailboat in Fuengirola
The broken mast and the mysterious circumstances surrounding the gruesome discovery have sparked an urgent police investigation
A 56-year-old German man was found dead aboard a sailboat stranded on La Cepa beach in Fuengirola, Málaga, on Friday afternoon, November 15. The discovery has left authorities piecing together the mysterious circumstances surrounding the incident.
Emergency services were alerted at around 4pm to a sailboat drifting near the seafront promenade Rey de España in the Costa del Sol town. Upon investigation, the Guardia Civil confirmed the vessel had run aground, its mast broken, with the deceased man inside. There were no visible signs of violence on the body, though the cause of death remains unclear.
The emergency response involved the National Police, Guardia Civil, Local Police, Maritime Rescue, and Firefighters. The incident, described by locals as resembling a scene from a mystery film, has raised questions about what led the vessel to drift ashore. The Guardia Civil has taken charge of the investigation, and an autopsy is expected to shed light on the man’s death.
Authorities continue to examine whether the boat’s condition and the man’s demise were due to an accident or another factor.
