ARCHIVED - Booster jabs now available for over 45s in the Region of Murcia
Appointments for third booster doses can be booked online by Murcia residents
The regional government in Murcia has now opened booster vaccine appointments, which can be made online, for residents aged between 45 and 50.
This age group has been able to book an appointment from 3pm on Monday January 10 and over 55 are now able to go and get their top-up jab without an appointment. Vaccines for over 40s have also been approved by the national Spanish government but Murcia is not yet allowing this age group to book their booster jab, in fact, the Region is dragging behind in terms of third doses.
Murcia is the region with the second lowest booster vaccination rate in the country, as well as having one of the higher 14-day cumulative incidence rates. Children in the Region aren’t getting vaccinated as fast as the authorities would like either, with the Health Minister, Mr Pedreño, confirming that 2,000 under 12s didn’t turn up for their jabs last week despite having appointments.
Another announcement made this Monday by the regional government was the decision to extend the current measures until January 14.
