Brit dies in motorcycle accident in northern Spain
The British man was travelling over a mountain pass in Cantabria when he lost control of the bike
A 57-year-old UK citizen has died in a motorcycle accident in northern Spain. The victim was travelling over a winding mountain pass near the town of San Pedro del Romeral in Cantabria when he came off his bike.
An ambulance rushed to the El Puerto de la Matalena pass and transferred the badly injured Brit to the Marques de Valdecilla University Hospital in nearby Santander, but he sadly died just moments after arriving.
Local reports claim the victim careened off the road before tumbling from the bike, but the fatal accident is still under investigation.
Police haven’t released the man’s name so it’s unclear whether he was living in Spain or in Cantabria on holiday.
This tragic event comes less than two weeks after a British couple crashed their motorcycle and died in Llanes, a town just 112 kilometres away from the fateful mountain crossing.
Kieron Haines, 68, and his 65-year-old wife Sharon skidded across the A-8 motorway during an episode of torrential rain and were both hit by oncoming traffic.
