British man, 40, seriously injured in fatal stabbing in Costa Blanca
One man died and another is in a critical condition following the rampage in Torrevieja
Mystery still surrounds a terrifying rampage in Torrevieja that left one man dead and two more fighting for their lives over the weekend.
Locals phoned the police at 3am on Saturday August 5 when they heard shouting coming from a semi-detached house on the usually quiet residential urbanisation of Torreta III, just outside the hub of the Costa Blanca city.
When officers arrived, they found a Dutch man dead at the property and a British and Finnish man, 48, both in critical condition having suffered multiple stab wounds. They were stabilised at the scene before being transferred to hospital.
The 40-year-old Briton was stabbed in the abdomen and remains in a serious condition, as confirmed by the Guardia Civil, who added that they believe the Finnish man, who is currently in intensive care, lived at the house where the fatal stabbing occurred. Early investigations also indicate that he may be the one who killed the Dutch victim.
A search of the property revealed several knives and a hammer that were used during the attack, but police are no closer to discovering why the Brit was at the man’s home, or what led to such a violent altercation.
A spokesperson for the Guardia Civil said: “Investigators are waiting to see whether their conditions improve so they can question them about their level of involvement in the altercation if and when they can be discharged from hospital.”
The horror attack comes after a 64-year-old British woman was found dead from stab wounds in her Orihuela Costa apartment back in March. Officers were called to the Costa Blanca property and discovered her husband attempting to flee the scene.
