ARCHIVED - British tourist attacked border officers at Palma de Mallorca airport
The 20-year-old, who is undergoing psychological treatment, was drunk when she arrived in Spain
Officers were forced to subdue a 20-year-old British tourist at Palma de Mallorca airport on Monday May 23 when she bit and hit several police at border security.
According to official reports, the young woman was drunk and became aggressive towards other passengers queuing up to have their documentation checked on arrival. Several officers from the National Police Border Unit tried to calm the woman down and asked her to wait her turn, but the passenger became more irate and attacked the officers.
It later transpired that the British woman is undergoing psychological treatment and she had neglected to take her medication on the day of the altercation, on top of consuming a large amount of alcohol.
Once she had been restrained, the woman was treated by health personnel at the airport before being transferred to the Son Llàtzer hospital for further evaluation.
