British tourist falls ill and dies lying next to girlfriend in Menorca hotel bed
The couple were holidaying in Arenal d'en Castell in the north of the Spanish island
A 37-year-old British tourist has died in a hotel room in the Menorca resort of Arenal d'en Castell after experiencing breathing problems.
The holidaymaker was lying next to his girlfriend in bed when he suddenly fell ill and began having respiratory problems which led to an irreversible cardiac arrest.
As his condition worsened, the man's girlfriend called emergency services during the early hours of Wednesday morning, June 28. Sadly, paramedics were unable to resuscitate him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy was due to take place on Thursday to determine the cause of death.
Last week, a 22-year-old British holidaymaker died when he plunged from the third-floor balcony of his hotel room in Ibiza.
And earlier this month, a popular UK blogger was killed when she fell from a Madrid balcony. Eden Young, from Manchester, ran a feminist show called Polyester Podcast and travelled to Madrid with a pal to attend a music festival before she "tragically fell to her death". Both incidents are under investigation.
