British coffee shop chain Pret A Manger comes to Spain
The UK cafe giant will open 70 new stores across Spain and Portugal
The Ibersol group will open some 70 establishments of the British coffee shop chain Pret A Manger, the first of which has already begun operating at Barcelona Airport. The exciting news was announced on Thursday November 16 and the group promised to work closely with its counterparts in the UK to ensure the venture is a roaring success.
"Opening our first Pret A Manger in Spain is another great moment for Pret. (...) Ibersol is the perfect partner to help us present the Pret experience to the people of Barcelona, ​​first, and then throughout Spain and Portugal," highlighted the CEO of Pret, Pano Christou.
The new store in Barcelona Airport spans 530 square metres and can seat 160 diners. Located in Terminal 2B, the shop offers an assortment of sandwiches, salads, fresh wraps and hot dishes with several recipes suitable for vegetarians and vegans prepared every day in their own kitchens, from specially selected ingredients.
The chain currently has more than 660 stores spread across fifteen markets, including France, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Italy and the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Hong Kong, Dubai, Kuwait, Canada and India.
Meanwhile, its partner in this venture, Ibersol, is a multi-brand restaurant group, with a presence in Portugal, Spain and Angola, with its own brands such as Pans & Company, Ribs, Santamaría and FresCo, as well as licenses in Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell.
Founded in London in 1984, Pret A Manger, which is French for Ready To Eat, prides itself on serving freshly-made food and 100% organic coffee. Everything which is not sold by the end of each day is donated to charity.
