British woman hospitalised after seven-metre fall from abandoned property in Lanzarote
Emergency crews faced a tricky rescue operation in Puerto del Carmen just before midnight on Sunday
A 32-year-old British woman is in hospital after falling around seven metres from the terrace of an abandoned property in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote, late on Sunday night. The incident happened at around 11.54pm on Calle Princesa Guayarmina in the popular resort. The Policía Local, Guardia Civil, Civil Protection and firefighters all attended the scene.
The rescue presented an immediate complication. The woman's position made it impossible to reach her directly, and emergency crews had to carry her over a roughly two-metre wall through the terrace of a neighbouring property before they could get her to the waiting ambulance. Paramedics stabilised her at the scene before she was transferred.
She was taken to the Dr José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife for further treatment. The extent of her injuries has not been confirmed, though she was described as having sustained various wounds.
No further details about the circumstances of the fall have been released.
