We’re all looking for value for money these days with inflation creeping up every month, but one Barcelona bar has taken penny-pinching on pints to a whole new level by offering everything on the menu – yes, absolutely everything – for just one euro.

At the ‘Tot 1 euro Bar’ on Calle Aribau, cash conscious customers can order a hamburger, sandwich, beer or even a shot for the bargain basement price. That’s if they manage to get a seat of course, since what has been dubbed the city’s cheapest pub is understandably packed to the rafters from 7.30 in the morning until closing time 18 and a half hours later.

The concept is the brainchild of owner Josep Serral, who insists he is making a profit even in these most difficult times.

"The key has been to search for profitability by looking closely at the product. A product does not need to be a brand name to be of quality,” he explained.

"People of all kinds come, young people, people from the nursing home... There is no specific target,” he added.

Thanks to social media platform TikTok, every weekend queues of customers line up outside the door for a cheap bite to eat or a drink, and popular online influencers who post about their experience are frequent patrons. Some of the videos have gone viral, exceeding a million views.

For the moment at least, the owners aren’t considering raising the prices, but if the cost of raw materials continues to climb they may be left with no option.

Regardless, at Tot 1 euro Mr Serral is determined to stick with the original business model which has made the pub such a roaring success: a different bar, affordable for everyone.
