ARCHIVED - Cabo Roig St Patricks Day Parade returns in 2022 after two years for 10th anniversary celebrations
The Alicante resort welcomes back its extremely popular St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the popular Cabo Roig resort in Alicante’s Orihuela is back in 2022, after being cancelled for the last two years due to Covid.
Cabo Roig first started its now immensely successful St. Patrick’s Day Parade back in 2011, and this year sees the event celebrate its tenth running. The Parade in Cabo Roig is now one of Spain’s largest St. Patrick’s Day Parades and has also been recognised as one of the biggest in mainland Europe.
For this year, the parade will take place on St. Patrick’s Day, which is Thursday March 17. The Parade starts at 3pm and goes along the Cabo Roig Strip, going on until late.
It’s a riotous event filled with colour, sound and smiles all round where the expat community of Cabo Roig pays tribute to all things Irish. The Grand Marshal who will be heading this year’s parade will be Steve Collins, an Irish former professional boxer who competed from 1986 to 1997. Known as the Celtic Warrior, Collins is the most successful male Irish boxer in recent professional boxing history, having held the WBO middleweight and super-middleweight titles simultaneously and never losing a fight as champion.
As well as leading the parade, Steve Collins will be present at O’Riordan’s bar on the strip the following day for a meet and greet.
