ARCHIVED - CaixaBank to close 58 branches in Murcia this week
The bank will eliminate extra branches in the Region following the Bankia merger
Following the merger with Bankia, CaixaBank will close 58 of its branches on Friday December 3. According to the company, those destined to lower the shutters for good are ‘duplicate’ premises that overlap with the now-defunct BMN (Cajamurcia).
The merger has not been without its difficulties, as countless customers were unable to access their online accounts last month when the web banking technology was being switched over.
Throughout Spain, a total of 1,534 offices will close their doors in the coming months, 747 on Friday alone, while staff who did not opt for the retirement plan will start their new positions next Tuesday.
CaixaBank has confirmed that only the branches with the largest number of clients will remain open, and the remaining closures are expected to take place before June next year.
Of the 58 branches closing down in the Region, 15 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, eight to Cartagena, four to Lorca, three to Molina de Segura and two each to San Pedro del Pinatar and Torre Pacheco.
In the following municipalities, only one office will be closed:
- Abanilla
- Abarán
- Alcantarilla
- Alguazas
- Alhama
- Archena
- Beniel
- Bullas
- Calasparra

- Fortuna
- Fuente Álamo
