ARCHIVED - Cloudy and wet bank holiday week ahead: Alicante weather Dec 5-8
Temperatures will still remain in the high-teens on December 6 and 8, national holidays in Spain
The weather has taken a notable shift over the last week or so, with the arrival of a mini-squall bringing wind and storms to Alicante province, and things are unlikely to change notably over the next few days.
This week's two bank holidays - December 6, Día de la Constitución (Constitution Day) and December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception - look set to be overcast and wet, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), although temperatures will remain pleasant enough during the day.
Cloudy intervals across the board are forecast for most of Monday December 5, with fog banks at higher altitudes. Light rainfall is likely from midday onwards and for most of the province, the mercury will remain unchanged, with the exception of coastal areas where minimum temperatures may rise slightly, and the north where maximum temperatures will fall.
On the coast, a moderate north-easterly wind will prevail; lightly variable inland.
Alcoy: 7ºC to 13ºC
Alicante: 12ºC to 20ºC
Denia: 11ºC to 18ºC
Elche: 10ºC to 19ºC
Orihuela: 10ºC to 19ºC
There's no escaping the cloud on Tuesday November 6, with showers likely to be locally heavy on the coast, tending to clear in the afternoon. Fog banks are forecast in mountain areas and temperatures will remain unchanged or rise very slightly. On the coast, Aemet forecasts a light to moderate northerly wind; lightly variable inland.
Alcoy: 10ºC to 15ºC
Alicante: 12ºC to 18ºC
Denia: 11ºC to 17ºC
Elche: 10ºC to 18ºC
Orihuela: 11ºC to 19ºC
Again, the outlook for Wednesday December 7 looks cloudy and overcast but with only a low chance of rain. Mountainous areas can expect fog banks and daytime temperatures will remain in the high teens accompanied by a light variable wind.
Alcoy: 8ºC to 15ºC
Alicante: 12ºC to 19ºC
Denia: 11ºC to 18ºC
Elche: 10ºC to 18ºC
Orihuela: 11ºC to 19ºC
Thursday December 8 is shaping up to be cloudy with a chance of rain. Thermometers are unlikely to move either way notably and a light south-westerly wind is expected to increase to moderate along the coast later in the afternoon.
Alcoy: 9ºC to 14ºC
Alicante: 13ºC to 19ºC
Denia: 10ºC to 19ºC
Elche: 12ºC to 18ºC
Orihuela: 12ºC to 19ºC
