Colombian citizen arrested for attempted rape of Irish woman in Valencia
Her attacker will be charged with sexual assault with violence by the Spanish courts
Guardia Civil in Valencia have arrested a 27-year-old Colombian man for the attempted rape of an Irish woman. He will be charged by the courts with the crime of sexual assault with violence.
According to investigators, officers were called to an address in the Ribera Baja shortly after midnight on June 25, where the young woman claimed that her attacker had tried to force himself on her.
The Irish victim could barely remember the details but she told the officers that she had violently struggled with the man and eventually managed to escape.
Once the woman was transferred to a medical centre, the Guardia Civil set about identifying her attacker and eventually tracked down the Colombian man.
His case has been handed over to the courts in Suesca.
