ARCHIVED - Coronavirus cases remain steady in the region of Valencia: Alicante Covid update April 7
149 new cases in the region of Valencia and 51 in Alicante within the latest 24 hour period
The most recent daily Covid update published by the regional government on Wednesday (April 7) reports similar cases to the rest of the week with 149 new cases in the region of Valencia and 51 in the province of Alicante, meaning that the fourth wave, which has already hit some parts of Spain, has not yet reached the Comunidad Valenciana.
The latest official bulletin shows that more than half of the 15 coronavirus-related deaths in the region were in the province of Alicante, which reported 9 deaths on Wednesday. There are currently 180 people hospitalized with Covid in the province, of whom 34 are in intensive care.
In addition, the latest number of active coronavirus cases reported in the region is 3,395 and the total number of Covid patients in Valencia’s hospitals is 393.
After reaching 33.02 (April 3) at the end of last week, the cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the past 14 days in the Comunidad Valenciana is now back down to 31.64, according to the latest national update.
On the other hand, the national incidence rate has increased to 167.97 and several Spanish regions are in the extreme risk zone, including Navarra (369.63), Madrid (302.11) and the Basque Country (183.8) so although the rate in the Valencia region remains the lowest in the country there is a small, but determined move upwards in the figures once again.
The mass vaccination programme continues this week across the region.
