Covid certificates issued in Murcia prior to October 2 must now be renewed
The certs will lose their validity if not updated before May 2023 in the Region
The Ministry of Health has advised that all EU digital Covid certificates issued before October 2, 2022 in the Region of Murcia must be replaced by May 24 of next year, when they will expire and no longer be valid.
While the certs are no longer required to access any bars, restaurants or leisure venues in Spain, certain countries still list the ‘passports’ as an entry requirement, as they give details of vaccination status, recovery from Covid and recent coronavirus testing.
The reason for the update is that the security systems of the Digital Seal/Document Signing Certificate (DSC) were only ever temporary and their validity will run out in seven months’ time.
The easiest way to update your current Covid certificate or apply for a new one is through the regional government’s official Ministry of Health website, MurciaSalud. This will provide users with a downloadable PDF document as well as a digital version which can be stored in wallets on mobile phones.
The Murcia health authorities have issued a total of 2,943,459 Covid certificates since July 1 last year, double the population of the Region. The reason for this disparity is that many people applied for more than one document.
