Discount card with 10 euros for public transport available to anyone registered in Benidorm
Until now, the rechargeable 'Citizen Card' with other advantages was only available to over 50s in the Costa Blanca coastal resort

Anybody registered in Benidorm can now apply for a 'Citizen Card' topped up with 10 euros redeemable on public transport in the resort.
Until now, only those aged 50 and over were eligible for the rechargable card, but as of January 30, anybody who is registered with Benidorm Town Hall can get their hands on one.
The card comes with an initial 10 euros charged to it. Once this has been used up, it can be topped up with further urban public transport discounts of up to 66%.
Benidorm Mayor, Toni Pérez explained that the Citizen Card "has a twofold objective through technology: to encourage and promote the use of public transport by offering discounts and to modernise the services provided to the registered population".
At the moment, the card can be used on public transport, but there are plans to extend its use to other municipal services, such as the public car park at l'Aigüera, which will soon be managed directly by the Town Hall.
To date, 4,656 cards have been issued, and the Town Hall is expecting this figure to rise significantly by "opening up the offer to the entire population aged 3 and over".
Citizen Cards are available at the Town Hall General Register office located on the ground floor. Applicants will require identification and a photograph.
