Eight men plead guilty to gang rape of British teenager in Magaluf
Seven French nationals and one Swiss man filmed the brutal assault in Mallorca back in 2023

Eight men charged with the gang rape of a British teenager in Magaluf have pleaded guilty at the start of what had been expected to be a four-day trial. The victim, who was 18 at the time of the attack, was assaulted by seven French nationals and one Swiss man at the BH Mallorca Resort in August 2023. The assault was filmed and shared on Snapchat.
Prosecutors had originally sought individual sentences of between 18 and 20 years for each of the accused, with the total potential prison time across all eight defendants exceeding 150 years. The guilty pleas, entered at the opening of the hearing, resulted in reduced sentences under a plea bargain arrangement.
The five men who penetrated the victim received sentences of either nine or 11 years for sexual assault, with three of them handed higher terms for reoffending during the attack and for filming it.
The remaining three, who did not penetrate the teenager but filmed the assault, were sentenced to two years and three months each. One of that group received an additional four-year sentence for sexually assaulting the victim without penetration.
A 14-page prosecution indictment described in detail how the men, aware that the young woman was semi-conscious and at points unconscious, stripped and assaulted her over a period of approximately half an hour in a hotel room.
According to the document, the assault involved multiple forms of rape, as well as the victim being spat on, hit and subjected to verbal abuse.
"They then carried out different sexual acts on her, acting by common consent and without her consent," the indictment stated.
The filming was extensive, with one suspect alone recorded as having shot 14 videos totalling 170 seconds. According to a source close to the case, the footage ultimately proved critical.
"If the men hadn't filmed what they'd done, they could have got off scot-free," they said.
A separate source added that without the plea bargain, many of those involved could have faced spending the rest of their lives behind bars.
Details of the attack first came to light when hotel staff found the young woman crying in the street. She was taken to Son Espases Hospital in Palma de Mallorca, where she was treated and subsequently filed her complaint.
Reports from the time indicated that three of the suspects had met the teenager earlier that evening while out in Magaluf and that after the initial assault, one had allegedly gone out to invite strangers to join in.
The victim's lawyer, Irene Hernandez of Campaner Law, had previously confirmed that her client would not be required to appear in person or by videoconference, as the statement she had given under oath during the judicial investigation was considered sufficient.
