ARCHIVED - Elderly British hikers in Benidorm natural park rescue
The couple in their 70s got lost hiking in Sierra Gelada natural park in the Marina Baixa, Alicante province

A British couple in their 70s were rescued by Benidorm firefighters after becoming disorientated whilst hiking in Sierra Gelada natural park at the weekend.
The alarm was raised at around 8.30pm on Saturday January 22, and when the fire crew located the husband and wife, 100 metres from what is known as the Benidorm cross off the Albir path, they discovered the woman had suffered a leg injury.

The couple were brought to safety at around 10.15pm and the injured woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment on a suspected fractured right ankle.
