ARCHIVED - Elderly hiker rescued in Jalon on the Costa Blanca
The 75-year-old man fell down a steep ravine in Jalon (Xaló) in the Marina Alta comarca, Alicante province.
The elderly hiker plunged around 10 metres into a deep ravine while hiking along the forat de Bernia route in Jalon on Thursday morning, June 3, and had to be airlifted to hospital.

According to sources from the Fire Brigade Consortium, the pensioner, who had been walking with his wife and two other people, was strapped to a stretcher and pulled to safety just after 1pm.
He was admitted to the Perpetuo Socorro hospital in Alicante with a knee injury.
