ARCHIVED - Electric scooter accident leaves Murcia teen unconscious
The 19-year-old Murcia girl suffered a severe blow to the head in the fall
Electric scooters are by now a frequent sight in towns and cities across Spain. Although they undeniably offer a convenient and quick way for people of all ages to zip through the streets, the lack of safety regulations surrounding their use has caused ructions and the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) is constantly introducing new rules to take some of the risk out of their use.
A teenage girl in Murcia was sadly the perfect example of the dangers this weekend, when she suffered a serious accident on Ciclista Mariano Roja avenue on Sunday October 23.

A concerned passer-by contacted the emergency services at 9.06am to report that a scooter rider had taken a serious tumble and was injured on the road. When the ambulance and officers from the Local Police of Murcia arrived they found that the 19-year-old had been knocked unconscious by a blow to the head when she fell.
The girl was transferred to the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital where she thankfully regained consciousness.
