Guided tours and the programme of cultural activities in Águilas during September
The tourist information office in Águilas offers a wide range of leaflets about the municipality, including walking routes, places to visit, restaurants and where to stay. Free guided tours in Águilas during September
-Sunday, September 5, 9.30h: “Marina de Cope” route
Duration: two and a half hours
Leaves from: El Pocico Restaurant
This route includes the Cabo Cope regional park and the Puntas del Calnegre, allowing participants to enjoy the natural scenery on offer, as well as walking through nesting areas for different bird species, Roman remains, a crypto-wetland located on the Saladar beach and even a thermal water spring.
Comfortable clothing and footwear, a hat, water and sun cream are recommended for this tour.
-Saturday, September 11, 10.00h: Historic Centre tour

This tour takes participants through the port and Plaza de España and past important monuments and buildings, such as the Ícaro (carnival monument), Ferrocarril monument, Archaeological Museum and San José Church, as well as the newly opened Águilas Carnival Museum.
Águilas is one of the most historic towns on the Costa Cálida and this guided tour will allow participants to better understand the rich history of Águilas as well as learning more about the famous Carnival hosted by the municipality every year.
-Saturday, September 18, 10.00h: "Mr Gilman and El Hornillo" tour

This tour allows participants to experience the history of the traders and industrialists who played such an important role in the economy of Águilas in the second half of the 19th century and the first 30 years of the 20th, among them Gustavo Gillman. The route includes the Monument to the Railway, the bridge over the Rambla de las Culebras, the Sendero del Hornillo, the museum which has been created in the railway tunnel, the Embarcadero del Hornillo loading jetty and the railway station.
-Sunday, September 26, 10.00h: “Four Coves” route

The ‘Four Coves’ tour visits the protected natural area of Cuatro Calas, which is named as a Place of Community Interest in the European Commission’s Red Natura 2000, to enjoy the natural scenery and cultural elements on offer.

Some Covid rules apply to the guided tours, such as the use of masks, social distancing between different households and the use of hand sanitizer provided by the tour guide. The maximum group size is 15 people and the tours may be cancelled due to the weather.

-Saturday, September 4, 18.00h: "The Plin Adventures of Plin". Tickets cost 13 euros plus administration fees online and 17 euros if bought at the venue (available two hours before the event). Children over the age of two require a ticket. Tickets are available by clicking here.
-Sunday, August 5, 20.00h: 'Noches al raso: Aureo' acrobatic performance by the Compañia Up Arte on the Auditorium's promenade. Free entry.
-Saturday, September 11, 19.00h: 'The life of Labi Champion: an open heart' with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Asociation. Tickets cost five euros.
-Sunday, September 12, 20.00h: 'Noches al raso: Todo encaja' on the Auditorium's promenade. Free entry.
-Saturday, September 25, 21.00h: "The Opera Locos". Tickets from 18 euros.
Tickets can be bought at the Archaeological Museum, the Culture House (Casa de Cultura) or online. Tickets can also be bought two hours before the event at the Infanta Doña Elena Auditorium.
Exhibitions at the Auditorium
-August 13 to October 31: 'From Iberia to Spain through Maps', exhibition on display at the Auditorium's Hall from 19.00h to 22.00h from Tuesday to Sunday.
-September 3 to September 30: 'Comadrejal' exhibition on display in the Temporary Exhibition Room in the Auditorium from 19.00h to 22.00h from Tuesday to Sunday. All proceeds gathered from the sale of art pieces will go to "Médicos sin Fronteras" (doctors without barriers).
