Final demolition phase for the new San Cristóbal health centre in Lorca set to begin
Lorca City Council hopes to take ownership of the final parcel of land before Christmas

At the beginning of next week, Lorca City Council will begin to demolish one of the houses on the site of the future San Cristóbal health centre. Just two properties now remain on the land.
María Hernández, Councillor for Urban Planning, explained that this demolition, the penultimate one to be undertaken in the area, must be carried out with special care because the homes share structural elements.
"As we have not yet reached an agreement with the owners of one of the houses, a study will be carried out on Monday prior to the demolition, so that the structure of the house that will remain standing is not damaged," she explained.
Once the study is completed, builders will begin tearing down the building on Tuesday December 12.
"That house is very important, since it occupies part of the future health centre and the road," indicated María del Sagrado Corazón García Martínez, head of Urban Planning and Management Service of the Urban Planning Area of Lorca. According to García Martínez, the property to be demolished has been transferred in advance to the City Council
With the demolition of this house, the City Council will have almost all of the land it needs to build the much needed health centre. Unfortunately, the owners of the last home have raised several objections which has slowed the project down considerably, but the council still hopes to have the space completely cleared before Christmas.
Overall, the 3,858 square metre plot will be divided into three distinct sections: 1,320 square metres of road, 1,647 for the building and a further 891 for equipment.
