The events took place on October 27, 2021 in the home they shared, where the convicted man attacked his partner and stabbed her multiple times. Following the murder, he dismembered the body and scattered the remains in different rubbish bins.
The ruling confirms the guilty verdict delivered by a popular jury at the end of the trial. The prosecution originally pushed for a 25-year sentence, but this was reduced by two and a half years.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court has ordered the man to pay 150,000 euros in compensation to each of the victim’s two children.
Furthermore, the convicted man is prohibited from approaching within 500 metres of the victim’s children or communicating with them for ten years. Upon release, he will also be subject to a ten-year probation period.
