ARCHIVED - Fired farm labourer beat and kidnapped his Malaga ex-boss before driving him 500km to Alicante
The 30-year-old, who was arrested in Villajoyosa, Alicante province, also allegedly attacked a police officer
A farm labourer furious at being sacked by his boss in Malaga took matters into his own hands and things turned nasty when he allegedly assaulted and kidnapped the manager before driving him more than five hours to Villajoyosa near Benidorm.
And things took a further turn for the worse when the 30-year-old then reportedly attacked a National Police officer during his arrest.
The former labourer has been charged with illegal detention, causing serious injuries and attacking a person in authority.
The drama unfolded at a farm in the town of Canillas de Aceituno in Malaga when the owner informed the detainee he was fired at the end of a working day.
At first, the labourer appeared to be calm about the news and asked his former employer to give him a lift home with a heavy chainsaw.
However, according to a National Police statement, the pair hadn't got far when the 30-year-old "suddenly became very violent" and ordered the ex-boss to stop the car and began punching him "all over his face and body".
He then allegedly dragged the victim out of the vehicle, forced him into the passenger seat and got behind the wheel himself, driving towards the A-7 and Alicante province.
Once at a service station in Villajoyosa - almost 480 km away from where the ordeal began - the sacked worker asked the victim for cash to refuel and buy a bottle of water.
The farmowner immediately took advantage of the distraction and, using a spare car key kept in the glove compartment, fled and drove to Benidorm 14km away where he asked for help at a service station.
When several police units and an ambulance arrived, they found the victim "bruised and bloodied".
He gave police a detailed description of his alleged attacker and his last location.
The detainee was located and arrested, during which an officer was attacked.
Among the labourer's belongings was a backpack containing two bladed weapons, a hunting knife and a folding knife, which were seized. The detainee was remanded by Villajoyosa Duty Court.
Pedro G's defence lawyers are now calling for his release or that his stay in jail be replaced by internment in a psychiatric centre.
