Active case numbers rise fall slightly in Murcia and fewer in hospital with coronavirus
There was sad news for the Region of Murcia in the latest coronavirus update published by health authorities on Friday, with the first fatality for eight days, that of a 67-year-old man, bringing the pandemic death toll up to 1,597 since last March.
However, in general terms the situation continues to improve gradually and the number of new cases confirmed during the previous 24 hours was 70, similar to the level of the last couple of weeks. 25 of those new cases were in the municipality of Murcia, 8 in Cartagena, 6 in Torre Pacheco, 5 in Caravaca de la Cruz, 4 in Cieza and 3 each in Archena, Campos del Río and Molina de Segura.
The diagnoses were obtained from a total of 2,299 PCR tests, giving a positivity rate of 3 per cent.
Meanwhile, the number of known active cases in the Region of Murcia fell slightly to 683, among whom there are 67 patients receiving hospital treatment. 26 of them are in intensive care, three fewer than the day before.
The latest national Ministry of Health data report that 25.4 per cent of the population of Murcia have now received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, and 11.3 per cent are fully immunized.
